Doris Günther (born May 3, 1978 in Zell am See ) is a former Austrian snowboarder .

Career

Kurt Günther's father, who is 165 cm tall from Salzburg, was a Bundesliga ice hockey player, which is why the snowboarder grew up enjoying winter sports. She skied for the first time when she was three years old. In 1992 she became acquainted with snowboarding . Günther competed in her first competitions in 1994. In 1996 she graduated from high school and began studying sports science , which she is currently (2006) only pursuing to a limited extent because she wants to concentrate on her sport.

At the Snowboard World Championship 2009 in Gangwon , Doris Günther was runner-up in the parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom . In the 2008/09 World Cup season , she won four races and was the overall World Cup winner.

On April 7, 2011, she announced her retirement from competitive sports.
