Matteotti, who starts for the CS Esercito, mainly participated in FIS races and the European Cup from 2004 to 2010 . He got two victories and won the snowboard cross classification in the 2008/09 season . He drove his first World Cup race in March 2008 in Valmalenco , which he finished in 28th place. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he won his first and so far only World Cup victory in Lech am Arlberg . Placements in midfield followed in the season. At the season highlight of the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina , he narrowly missed a medal with fourth place. In March 2011 in Arosa in the last race of the season, he again achieved a podium finish with second place. He finished the season in fourth place in the snowboard cross ranking. This is his best overall World Cup result so far. At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , he finished 18th. In January 2014, he reached third place in Vallnord-Arcalís . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he finished sixth. In mid-January 2015 he won gold in snowboard cross at the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg . In the 2015/16 season he came in the top ten twice in the World Cup and at the end of the season he finished 21st in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada he finished 18th.
Matteotti was Italian snowboard cross champion in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
