Heidi Renoth (born February 28, 1978 in Berchtesgaden ) is a former German snowboarder . In 1997 she became world champion in slalom. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , she won the silver medal in the giant slalom .

Career

Renoth achieved sixth place in the parallel slalom at her snowboard world cup premiere on November 24, 1994 in Kaprun , and two days later she was second on the podium in slalom for the first time. The first World Cup victory followed on December 6, 1994 in a slalom in Pitztal. This season she reached second place in both the slalom and the parallel World Cup. She also achieved second place three times in a discipline world cup and in the 1996/97 season she reached fourth place in the overall world cup. In total, Renoth achieved 5 World Cup victories, 19 second and 14 third places in world cup races.

Renoth started twice at the Winter Olympics . At the 1998 Games , she started in the giant slalom. Here she achieved the fifth fastest time in the first run. With the third-best time in the second round, she won the silver medal with a total time of 2: 19.17 minutes. At the 2002 Winter Games , she failed in qualifying in the parallel giant slalom and reached 21st place.

For winning the silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics, she received - like all German medalists - the silver laurel leaf.

Renoth started at five snowboard world championships between 1996 and 2003. In 1997 she won the world championship title in Innichen . In 2003 at Kreischberg she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom.

In March 2003, Renoth ended her career at the age of 25 and started training as a physiotherapist.
