The 5th FIS Snowboard World Championships took place from January 12th to 19th, 2003 at Kreischberg near Murau ( Austria ).

Men

Parallel giant slalom

The men's slalom competitions had the largest field of participants in the world championships with 82 athletes. In the parallel giant slalom , only 16 qualified for the round of 16. Eight of them made it to the semi-finals and four made it to the final. There they competed against each other for the medals, while the losers in the semi-finals ran for the other places in a consolation round.

Snowboard cross

In this competition, snowboarders compete against each other in groups of four. 70 athletes competed, 32 of which survived the qualifying round. Half of the eighth and quarter-finals were eliminated, so that eight athletes reached the two semi-finals. The better fought for the medals in the Big Final , the losers in the Small Final for the other places.
