Hoffmann made his debut in the FIS World Cup in Tignes in November 1997 , where he finished fifth. In the same month he won his first World Cup victory in Hintertux . At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , she came 17th. The following year he finished second at the Burton US Open in 2000, third.
