Mathias Behounek (born June 25, 1975 in Rosenheim ) is a former German snowboarder in the slalom disciplines.

Mathias Behounek started for SC Rosenheim . In November 1994 he contested his first FIS race with a slalom in Kaprun , which he immediately won. Less than two weeks later, the first snowboard world cup race followed in Zell am See , and he also won this parallel slalom. Four more victories in slalom and parallel slalom followed by 1998 and eight further podium placements in giant slalom, parallel giant slalom and snowboard cross by 2002 . Between 1996 and 2003, Behounek competed in all of the Fédération Internationale de Ski's snowboard world championships . In 1996 he was 42nd in the giant slalom and ninth in the parallel slalom in Lienz , in 1997 in Innichen 24th in the giant slalom, eleventh in the slalom and 16th in the parallel slalom. At the 1999 World Championships in Berchtesgaden , Behounek even competed in four competitions: he was 18th in giant slalom, fifth in parallel slalom, 27th in parallel giant slalom and 14th in snowboard cross. 2001 came eighth in parallel slalom in Madonna di Campiglio . Slalom and a 13th in the parallel giant slalom. Last World Cup were title fights in 2003 in Kreischberg . Behounek finished the parallel slalom in 23rd place, but did not finish the race in the parallel giant slalom. Highlight of the career were 2002 Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City , where the Rosenheim reached the 16th place. After his international career ended in 2004, he competed in national championships several times until 2012.
