Meuli drove her first World Cup race in January 2001 in Kreischberg , which she finished in seventh place in the parallel slalom. At the Junior World Championships in 2001 she won gold in the parallel slalom. She won her first World Cup victory out of a total of 22 in January 2002 in Arosa . At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she finished 20th in the parallel giant slalom. At the Snowboard World Championships 2003 in Kreischberg she achieved 22nd place in the parallel slalom and tenth place in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2003/04 season she achieved a total of 16 podium finishes of eight World Cup victories in the World Cup after a weaker first race with 16th place. In the following season she was able to repeat her strong performances. After finishing ninth in the first race, she again won eight World Cup races that season. At the Snowboard World Championships 2005 in Whistler she achieved fifth place in the parallel giant slalom and the next day she won the gold medal in the parallel slalom. In March 2005 she became Swiss champion in the parallel giant slalom. In her last season, 2005/06 , she achieved podium finishes in all World Cup races. She won the World Cup and the parallel classification for the third time in a row. At the 2006 Winter Olympics , she won the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom, which was held in Bardonecchia . She announced her resignation on August 8, 2006.
Daniela Meuli completed her studies at the ETH in Zurich as a federal gymnastics teacher in 2006 and now lives in Davos again. She has been the trainer of the Swiss women's mountain bike team since March 2007, gives physical education lessons at the middle school and looks after the young talent base in Davos. Meuli is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
