Marion Posch

Marion Posch (born November 2, 1972 in Sterzing , South Tyrol ) is a former Italian snowboarder who was twice world champion in parallel slalom.

At the first snowboard world championship , which was held in Lienz in 1996, she won the world title in parallel slalom ahead of Marcella Boerma from the Netherlands, after having finished seventh in the giant slalom two days earlier. The following year she finished fourth in the parallel slalom at the World Championships in Innichen . At the Olympic Games in 1998 Posch reached sixth place in the giant slalom. In 1999 at the World Championships in Berchtesgaden, Posch finished ninth in the parallel giant slalom . The next day she won her second World Championship title in parallel slalom, this time she won ahead of Frenchwoman Isabelle Blanc . Although Marion Posch remained active until the Olympic Games in 2006 , she then only achieved a placement in the top eight when she was eighth at the 2005 World Championships in parallel slalom.

Marion Posch won the overall World Cup in parallel slalom in the 1994/1995 season . Between 1994 and 2002 she won 16 World Cup races, nine of them in parallel slalom, two in parallel giant slalom, two in slalom and three in giant slalom. Marion Posch also won three Italian championship titles: in 1999 and 2002 she won the parallel slalom, in 2002 she was also successful in the parallel giant slalom.
