Lucas Eguibar (born February 9, 1994 in San Sebastián ) is a Spanish snowboarder . He starts in snowboard cross.

Career

From 2010 to 2013, Eguibar mainly participated in the European Cup, where he took first place in the snowboard cross ranking in the 2011/12 season. At the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina he finished 51st. He drove his first World Cup race in January 2012 in Veysonnaz , which he finished in 21st place. At the Snowboard World Championships 2013 in Stoneham he finished 13th. In March 2013 in Arosa he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place. In the same month he won gold in snowboard cross at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2013 in Erzurum . In January 2014, he finished second in Vallnord-Arcalís . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he finished seventh. He finished the 2013/14 season in eighth place in the snowboard cross ranking. At the 2014 Junior Snowboard World Championships in Valmalenco , he won silver in snowboard cross. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , he came in 25th. In March 2015 he won his first World Cup victory in Veysonnaz and finished second a day later. He finished the 2014/15 season in first place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. In the 2015/16 season he made it into the top ten six times in the World Cup. He was twice third and won in Veysonnaz. At the end of the season he finished third in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. In the following season he won seven World Cup appearances, two top ten placements, including second place in Feldberg . He achieved 11th place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada he won the silver medal in the individual and team competition together with Regino Hernández . In the 2017/18 season he reached sixth place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup with six top ten finishes, including third places in Val Thorens and Veysonnaz. He also won the team competition in Montafon together with Regino Hernández and took third place in Veysonnaz. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 33rd in snowboard cross.

In the 2018/19 season Eguibar won in Veysonnaz and at the end of the season he finished fourth in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. The FIS Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City , he finished fourth. In the following season he also achieved fourth place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. He won his fourth World Cup in Sierra Nevada.
