Hanno Douschan (born September 5, 1989 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian snowboarder and Olympian (2014, 2018). His greatest achievement is winning the silver medal in snowboard cross at the 2019 World Championships .

Career

Douschan started from 2004 to 2010 mainly in the European Cup. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2009 in Nagano , he won bronze in the parallel slalom. He drove his first World Cup race in January 2010 in Kreischberg , which he finished in 52nd place in the parallel giant slalom. In March 2010 he won bronze in the parallel giant slalom and snowboard cross at the Austrian snowboard championship. At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina he achieved 22nd place in snowboard cross. At the Austrian Championships in Bad Gastein in 2013 , he won silver in snowboard cross. In December 2013 he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with eighth place in snowboard cross in Lake Louise . He won gold in snowboard cross at the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino .

In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , Douschan came tenth in snowboard cross. The following year he achieved 39th place in snowboard cross at the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg. In the 2015/16 season he won four European Cups and won the snowboard cross ranking. He was also in the top ten three times in the World Cup and at the end of the season he finished 20th in the Snowboard Cross World Cup.

Hanno Douschan started at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the South Korean city ​​of Pyeongchang and on February 15th he finished 27th in snowboard cross. At the World Cup in La Molina , Spain , he achieved his first podium finish on March 3rd with a silver medal. At the 2019 World Championships in Park City , he won the silver medal in his parade discipline. On March 16, 2019 Douschan contested his last race in Veysonnaz and he declared his active time with this race over.
