Heinrich Jenke
Heinrich Jenke (born October 16, 1823 in Altenberg , Saxony , † August 6, 1906 in Salzburg ) was a German theater actor , director , comedian and artistic director .
Life
Jenke, from a family in Oldenburg whose parents belonged to a good traveling theater, wanted to become a doctor first, but had to give up his studies for financial reasons. Therefore, he devoted himself early to the stage career as a comedian and character lover. For decades he was engaged as an actor and director at the Salzburg City Theater, which he also led from 1872 to 1880, combined with the Ischl Summer Theater , and did not retire until 1902. In 1902 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Salzburg on the occasion of his 60th stage anniversary.
