Ville Paumola (born March 16, 1991 in Tampere ) is a Finnish snowboarder . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Paumola has participated in World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2006 and in FIS competitions since 2010 . He took second place in Slopestyle at the Finnish championships in Ruka in 2009 and in January 2010 at the O'Neill Evolution in Davos, his first podium finishes. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, he won the bronze medal in Big Air and the silver medal in Slopestyle at the 2010 Junior Snowboarding World Championships in Cardrona . In October 2010 he completed his first World Cup in London and finished 15th in Big Air. In the further course of the season he was second in Slopestyle at the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam in Schladming and third in Slopestyle at the Spring Battle in Flachauwinkl . At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina , he won the bronze medal in slopestyle. He also took eighth place in the Big Air competition. In the following season he came second in the Slopestyle at the Snowjam in Špindlerův Mlýn and the Grandvalira Total Fight in Grandvalira . In February 2012 he finished 14th at the 2012 Snowboard World Championships in Oslo and fourth at the Burton European Open in Laax in slopestyle. In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he came 27th in slopestyle. The following year, at the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg, he took 23rd place in slopestyle and eighth place in the big air competition. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he started in Landgraaf for the first time in the European Cup and after 31st place in the slopestyle on the first day of competition, he won the slopestyle competition on the second day of competition. In February 2016 he achieved his first podium in the World Cup with third place in slopestyle at Bokwang Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang and at the end of the season he finished 12th in the Freestyle World Cup and seventh in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the beginning of April 2016 he became Finnish champion in slopestyle. At the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he finished 21st in Big Air and fifth in Slopestyle.
