Omar Visintin (born October 22, 1989 in Merano ) is an Italian snowboarder . He starts in the snowboard cross discipline.

Career

Visintin mainly participated in the European Cup from 2004 to 2010. He drove his first World Cup race in Valmalenco in March 2008 , which he finished in 34th place in snowboard cross. At the 2009 Junior World Championships in Nagano , he won gold in snowboard cross. At the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina , he finished 25th in snowboard cross. In December 2011 he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with sixth place in snowboard cross in Telluride . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he won his first World Cup victory in Montafon . At the Snowboard World Championships 2013 in Stoneham he reached 22nd place in snowboard cross. Further top ten placements in the World Cup followed. At the last World Cup race of the season he reached his next podium with third place in Sierra Nevada .

At the first World Cup race of the 2013/14 season , Visintin achieved second place in snowboard cross in Montafon. In January 2014, he took third place in Vallnord-Arcalís . A day later, he won his second World Cup race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came 12th in snowboard cross. He finished the season in first place in the snowboard cross ranking. In April 2014 he became the Italian snowboard cross champion. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , he finished 29th. A week later he won silver in snowboard cross at the Winter X Games . In the 2015/16 season he finished in the top ten four times in the World Cup and at the end of the season he finished tenth in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. In April 2016 and 2017 he became the Italian snowboard cross champion. In the following season he was placed in the top eight in all World Cup competitions, including third place in Feldberg and second place each in Solitude and in Montafon. He finished second in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. He finished ninth at the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada . In the 2017/18 season he won in Cervinia and Erzurum and took third place in Moscow and thus achieved fifth place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. He also won the team competition in Erzurum and Moscow together with Emanuel Perathoner . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came 25th in snowboard cross.

In the 2018/19 season he came in four top ten finishes, including second place in Cervinia , to second place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City , he took 18th place in the individual and won the silver medal in the team competition. The following season he won his fifth World Cup victory in Big White . In addition, he finished third in Montafon and second in Veysonnaz and thus achieved third place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup.
