Perathoner, who starts for the CS Esercito, took part in the Snowboard World Cup for the first time in San Candido in January 2003 and finished in 14th place. In December 2004 he reached seventh place in Nassfeld- Hermagor, his first top ten finish in the World Cup. In the 2009/10 season he came in third place, two second places and one first place, in third place in the overall ranking of the European Cup. In the following season he achieved seventh place in the overall ranking of the European Cup with two victories. At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina he managed the 17th place. After finishing 12th in the World Cup in Telluride and 27th in Veysonnaz at the beginning of the 2011/12 season, he achieved his first podium finish in Veysonnaz with third place in the World Cup. At the end of the season he was sixth at the World Cup in Chiesa in Valmalenco and thus finished 17th in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , he came 19th. In the 2013/14 season he came in six World Cup appearances, four times in the top ten and thus reached 12th place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2015 at Kreischberg he finished 26th and at the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada he finished 13th. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he finished second in the World Cup at Cerro Catedral . This was followed by three top ten placements, including third place in La Molina and eighth place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup at the end of the season. He also won the team competition in Erzurum and Moscow together with Omar Visintin . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 15th in snowboard cross.
In the 2018/19 season, Perathoner won his first World Cup victory in Cervinia and at the end of the season he finished sixth in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships in Park City in 2019 , he won the bronze medal in the individual and finished fourth in the team. In the following season he also achieved sixth place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup. He was second in Cervinia.
Perathoner has so far participated in 97 World Cups and has finished in the top ten 23 times. (Status: end of season 2019/20)
