Cerro Catedral is a mountain with a height of 2,405 meters in the Nahuel Huapi National Park in Patagonia , Argentina . The closest city, Bariloche , is 19 kilometers away.
There is one of the largest ski areas in South America with an area of 2 km², approx. 100 kilometers of slopes and a ski lift capacity of 22,200 skiers per hour. But the great view of the Nahuel Huapi Lake also makes the mountain a very popular destination . The occupancy of the numerous hotels and hostels at the foot of the mountain is also very high in the summer months, as the area is also very attractive for hikers and mountaineers. There are also numerous overnight accommodations in mountain huts ( called refugio ) on the way to the highest peak, the Torre Principal .
In August and September, the ski area regularly hosts the South American Cup .
