Cerro Catedral (German: Cathedral Hill - pronunciation : [ 'sero kate'ðɾal ], also known as Cerro Cordillera ) is the highest point of Uruguay . The summit is at a height of 513.7 meters. It is located in the north of the Maldonado Department and belongs to the Sierra Carapé range of hills .

history

Until 1973, the Cerro de las Ánimas was the highest point in Uruguay with a height of 501 meters. This year the " Servicio Geográfico Militar " took measurements again and changed the height of the Cerro Catedral to the one that is valid today.
