Tomoka Takeuchi ( Japanese 竹 内 智 香 , Takeuchi Tomoka ; born December 21, 1983 in Sapporo ) is a Japanese snowboarder . It starts in the parallel disciplines.

Career

In January 2001, Takeuchi drove her first World Cup race on Kronplatz , which she finished with 63rd place in the parallel giant slalom. At the following World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio , 29th place in the giant slalom was her best placement. In her first Olympic participation in Salt Lake City in 2002 , she came in 22nd place in the parallel giant slalom. In January 2003 she reached the 39th place in the parallel giant slalom and the 30th place in the parallel slalom at the Snowboard World Championships 2003 at Kreischberg . At the beginning of the 2003/04 season she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup in Stoneham with eighth place in the parallel giant slalom. This was followed by another fourth place on Mount Bachelor and a third place in Sapporo that season . In January 2005 she finished 15th in the parallel giant slalom and seventh in the parallel slalom at the 2005 Snowboard World Championships in Whistler . At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she came ninth in the parallel giant slalom. The following year she reached the 15th place in the parallel giant slalom and the 14th place in the parallel slalom at the Snowboard World Championships in Arosa . In the 2008/09 season she came second in the World Cup four times and finished the season in sixth place in the overall standings and third place in the parallel standings. At the season highlight of the Snowboard World Championships 2009 she reached the 13th place in the parallel slalom and with the fourth place in the parallel giant slalom just missed a medal. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she came 13th in the parallel giant slalom. In January 2011, she finished 20th in the parallel giant slalom and 13th in the parallel slalom at the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina . Two months later she reached second place in the parallel slalom in Moscow . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season, she won her first World Cup victory in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza . At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , she finished eighth in the parallel slalom and seventh in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2013/14 season she took second place three times and finished the season in fifth place in the parallel overall ranking and second place in the parallel giant slalom ranking. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she won silver in the parallel giant slalom. At the Snowboard World Championships 2015 on Kreischberg, she won bronze in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2016/17 season she was third in the parallel giant slalom in Bansko and third in Kayseri , thus reaching 12th place in the parallel world cup and fifth place in the parallel giant slalom world cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she came 12th in the parallel slalom and tenth in the parallel giant slalom.

Takeuchi has competed in 161 World Cup races to date and has been placed in the top ten 56 times (as of the end of the 2016/17 season).
