Chris Corning (born September 7, 1999 in Silverthorne ) is an American snowboarder . He starts in the discipline of slopestyle and big air .

Career

Corning has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour and FIS competitions since 2014 . He achieved third place in the 2014/15 season on the US Revolution Tour in Seven Springs and second in Copper Mountain . He made his World Cup debut in February 2015 in Park City , which he finished in 31st place. In March 2015 he became the American Slopestyle Champion. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , he won his first World Cup victory in Cardrona . In the further course of the season he won the US Revolution Tour in Winter Park and took second place in the World Cup in Bokwang Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang . At the end of the season he came second in the Freestyle World Cup and first place in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships in 2016 on the Alpe di Siusi , he won gold medals in slopestyle and big air . In April 2016, he was again the American Slopestyle Champion. In the 2016/17 season he made seven World Cup appearances, four times in the top ten. He won the Slopestyle in Špindlerův Mlýn and at the end of the season he finished tenth in the Freestyle World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada , he won the bronze medal in slopestyle and the silver medal in Big Air. At the end of March 2017 he won the gold medal in slopestyle at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2017 in Špindlerův Mlýn. After fourth place in the Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he won Big Air in Milan and Slopestyle on the Alpe di Siusi and finished second in Big Air in Copper Mountain. He won the Freestyle World Cup , the Slopestyle World Cup and the Big Air World Cup. He also took second place in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and at the Burton US Open in Vail . At the Winter X Games 2018 in Aspen he was sixth in slopestyle and fifth in Big Air and won the bronze medal in Big Air at the X Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu . In February 2018 he finished 17th at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang Place in Slopestyle and fourth place in Big Air.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Corning won his fifth World Cup victory in Big Air in Cardrona and took second place in Big Air in Modena . He also won the slopestyle in Laax and came second on Kreischberg , winning freestyle as in the previous year and the Slopestyle World Cup. He finished second in the Big Air World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2019 he was tenth in slopestyle and sixth in big air and won the gold medal in slopestyle at the 2019 Snowboard World Championships in Park City . After first place in Big Air in Cardrona at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he came fourth in Big Air at X-Games Norway 2019. This was followed by third places in the World Cup in Modena and Beijing and a victory in Atlanta and won thus the Big Air World Cup. He also came third in the Freestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2020 he came in 18th place in slopestyle and ninth place in big air.
