Patrick Burgener (born June 1, 1994 ) is a Swiss snowboarder . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Burgener has been taking part in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour and FIS competitions since 2008 . He made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup in Saas-Fee in October 2008 and finished 30th in the halfpipe competition. In January 2009 he won the Burton European Junior Open in Laax in the halfpipe and in slopestyle . In the 2009/10 season he came on the podium for the first time in the World Cup with third place in Chiesa in Valmalenco and second place on Kreischberg in the halfpipe. In March 2010 he took second place in the halfpipe at the Nescafé Champs in Leysin . After becoming Swiss halfpipe champion at the beginning of the 2010/11 season, he took third place in Big Air at the World Cup in Stockholm and third place in the halfpipe in Arosa , thus reaching 16th place in the Freestyle World Cup at the end of the season . At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina , he came 44th in slopestyle and sixth in the halfpipe. He also finished second in the slopestyle season at the Burn River Jump in Livigno and finished 22nd in the slopestyle and 11th in the halfpipe at the Winter X Games Europe 2011 in Tignes . In the 2012/13 season he came third in the Big Air at freestyle.ch in Zurich and at the World Cup in Antwerp , and at the end of the season he came third in the Big Air World Cup. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg, he came 17th in Big Air. In April 2015, he became Swiss champion in the halfpipe. In the 2015/16 season he took third and second place at the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain and second place at the Laax Open 2016 in the halfpipe. At the X-Games Oslo 2016 , he finished seventh in the halfpipe. In April 2016 he became Swiss champion in slopestyle. After finishing second in the halfpipe on the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and World Cup in the halfpipe competition in Copper Mountain . At the Winter X Games 2017 in Aspen , he came 12th. In March 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada and the gold medal at the Swiss Championships in Laax. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he took third place at the World Cup in Cardrona . He finished fifth at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .

In the following season, Burgener came in the top ten four times, including second place in Mammoth and thus reached tenth place in the Freestyle World Cup and fourth place in the Halfpipe World Cup. In the Winter X-Games in 2019 he finished tenth and won at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in 2019 the bronze medal. In the 2019/20 season he achieved four top ten finishes, including third place in Calgary , 14th place in the Freestyle World Cup and sixth place in the Halfpipe World Cup. He also finished third at the Winter Dew Tour at Copper Mountain and fourth at the Burton US Open in Vail .
