freestyle.ch is an annual freestyle sporting event on the Landiwiese in Zurich . In competition mode , the four disciplines snowboard , freeski , FMX ( motorcycle ) and skateboard are presented on three weekend days , as well as the lifestyle associated with these freestyle sports, including nightlife. The relaxed atmosphere of the event makes it easy to forget that the male athletes, all of them professionals, achieve top sporting performances.

In contrast to other events of this type, all disciplines at freestyle.ch take place in a single arena. This makes the event an international meeting place for fans, athletes and the sports industry. In contrast to the X Games , the top European athletes have more space in the field of participants. But there are also numerous American and Canadian athletes. A total of $ 120,000 in prize money is available for all four disciplines.

The event has been held every September since 1995 (back then as Nescafé Züri Inline ). Freestyle.ch now has around 100,000 visitors and can be seen on television in over 160 countries. However, the 2004 edition had to be canceled after the first day because the Big Air snow ramp collapsed. No people were injured. In 2005 , entry was no longer free for the first time, which is on the one hand an indication of the commercial nature of the event, but on the other hand also points to an increased understanding of security.
