Rok Marguč (born May 25, 1986 in Celje ) is a Slovenian snowboarder .

Career

Marguč drove his first World Cup race in Maribor in February 2004 , which he finished in 52nd place in the parallel slalom. At the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Zermatt , he won silver in the parallel giant slalom . At the Snowboard World Championships 2007 in Arosa , he finished 22nd in the parallel slalom and 12th in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2006/07 season he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup in San Vigilio di Marebbe with eighth place in the parallel giant slalom. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Bardonecchia , he won gold in the giant slalom. In February 2007 he took his first podium with third place in Furano . At the Snowboard World Championships 2009 in Gangwon he won 12th place in the parallel slalom. At his first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , he finished 23rd in the parallel giant slalom. His greatest success to date was the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina . There he won bronze in the parallel slalom and silver in the parallel giant slalom. At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , he won gold in the parallel slalom. In March 2013 he won his first World Cup victory in the parallel giant slalom in Arosa. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came in 12th place in the parallel slalom and fifth in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2014/15 season he came in the top ten five times in the World Cup and thus reached ninth place in the Parallel World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , he finished 11th in the parallel giant slalom and won the bronze medal in the parallel slalom. In the following season he came in seven appearances in the World Cup, four times in the top ten. He came third in Winterberg and Moscow and second in Kayseri . At the end of the season he reached sixth place in the Parallel Slalom World Cup and fifth place in the Parallel World Cup and in the Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup. The following year he finished 21st in the parallel giant slalom and 16th in the parallel slalom at the Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada . In the 2017/18 season he finished third in the parallel slalom in Winterberg and second in the parallel giant slalom in Lackenhof , ninth in the parallel world cup and eighth in the parallel slalom world cup. At the season's highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came 17th in the parallel giant slalom. The following year he drove to the 25th place in the parallel giant slalom at the World Championships in Park City .
