Paulina Ligocka-Andrzejewska (born May 25, 1984 in Gliwice ) is a Polish snowboarder with additional German citizenship . She became the first Polish female snowboarder to win a World Championship medal.
At the 2006 Winter Olympics , she was the flag bearer of the Polish team.
Sports career
Ligocka-Andrzejewska started snowboarding at the age of 14, when she was trained by her father. In 1997 she took part in the Polish Mountain Championship and was soon able to establish herself as one of the most successful snowboarders in Poland.
Ligocka-Andrzejewska commented on her sport as follows: “Snowboarding is my life. Everything is important - driving pleasure and satisfaction when reaching goals. "
At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, she carried the Polish national flag and took 17th place in the halfpipe competition. In March 2006 she took 2nd place in the halfpipe in the World Cup. 2010 competed at the Winter Games in Vancouver and reached the 28th place in the halfpipe.
On July 28, 2011, she started in the German national team. The reason for this were unresolved differences between the athletes and the Polish Snowboard Association. The complained about the lack of financial support and the preference given to other athletes by the responsible authorities.
Private
Ligocka-Andrzejewska is the cousin of the brothers Mateusz and Michal Ligocki, who also competed as snowboarders in Turin.
Ligocka-Andrzejewska is married to the physical education teacher and coach Michal Andrzejewska and has a son and a daughter. In Ustroń , the couple runs a snowboard club with an attached snowboard school.

In the 2006 European Cup in Saas-Fee , she was second in the halfpipe . In the World Cup she won the competitions in Leysin 2006 and Sungwoo 2007. At the Snowboard World Championship in Arosa in 2007 and at the World Championship in Gangwon in 2009 , she won the bronze medal in the halfpipe.
