Manuela Laura Pesko (born September 19, 1978 in Chur ) is a former snowboarder and Olympian (2006) from Switzerland .

Career

She grew up in Lenzerheide , where her parents own and run a sports shop. In 1999 she passed the Swiss Matura exam .

In 1992 Pesko started snowboarding. In 1995 she took part in the Junior World Championship and took second place. After graduating from school in 1999, she began her professional career. She was also trained by the multiple Swiss marathon champion Richard Umberg . Pesko increasingly took part in freestyle contests and was Swiss champion in the halfpipe at the end of the season . As a result, she decided to concentrate mainly on freestyle competitions and the alpine boarder switched to freestylers in 2000.

At the 2005 World Championships in Whistler Mountain , she won the silver medal in the halfpipe. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she took seventh place in the halfpipe. Her greatest success is winning the halfpipe gold medal at the 2007 World Cup in Arosa . She has won the World Cup four times in the halfpipe.

On October 30, 2008, Manuela Pesko announced the end of her active career.

She has been married to the Vals entrepreneur Remo Stoffel since 2013 and, as a mother of four, dedicates herself to family life.
