Petja Piiroinen (born August 15, 1991 in Hyvinkää ) is a Finnish snowboarder who mainly competes in big air , sometimes in the halfpipe and in slopestyle .

Piiroinen has been snowboarding since 1998, Petja's older brother Peetu Piiroinen is also a snowboarder and competes in the World Cup and the Ticket to Ride World Tour .

His debut in the Snowboard World Cup was on December 22, 2007 in Sofia , where he immediately took eighth place in a big air competition. He achieved his first podium in the same season in Graz in January 2008 - also in Big Air when he finished third. At the FIS Junior World Championships in March 2008 he won the title in this discipline ahead of Roger Kleivdal and Tero Manninen , in the halfpipe he finished 32nd. He started the 2008/09 season with an eighth place in his brother's victory in London . Another top ten place was followed by sixth place at the 2009 Snowboard World Championships in Gangwon, Korea . In August 2010 he won gold in the Big Air competition at the 2010 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Cardrona . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he finished second at the World Cup races in Stockholm . At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina , he achieved 10th place in slopestyle. He won the gold medal in the big air competition. In April 2011 he became Finnish champion in slopestyle. At the 2012 Snowboard World Championships in Oslo , he came in 32nd place in slopestyle. In the subsequent World Cup race in Stoneham , he achieved second place in the big air competition. He finished the 2011/12 season in third place in the overall freestyle ranking and second in the big air ranking. At the Snowboard World Championships in 2013 in Stoneham , he finished ninth in slopestyle and eighth in big air. In the 2013/14 season, he also won his first World Cup victory in big air in Stoneham . This was followed by a second place in the slopestyle on Kreischberg that season . He finished the season in third place in the slopestyle rankings and second in the overall freestyle rankings. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg, he took 19th place in slopestyle.
