Trophy Eyes is an Australian pop-punk band from Newcastle , New South Wales, founded in 2013 .

history

Former drummer Callum Cramp formed the band Trophy Eyes in 2013 in the basement of his Newcastle apartment. As additional musicians he was able to win the singer John Floreani, the two guitarists Kevin Cross and Andrew Hallett as well as the bassist and background singer Jeremy Winchester. Cramp was replaced on drums by Blake Caruso in 2017.

In the founding year, Demo 2013 and Everything Goes Away were released as a demo and an EP, both of which were recorded independently. In May 2014 the band was released by Hopeless Records and the EP Everything Goes Away was reissued. On November 4th of the same year, the debut album Mend, Move On was released . In January and February 2015, the band played their first tour of the United Kingdom with Neck Deep and Knuckle Puck , immediately followed by a tour of several countries in mainland Europe. In 2015 and 2017 the band was part of the Warped Tour .

On October 14, 2016, the band's second studio album, Chemicle Miracle, was released, which reached number 8 on the domestic album charts and lasted for a week. In November 2017, Trophy Eyes headlined their first North American tour.

The third album The American Dream was released on August 3, 2018 and, like its predecessor, entered Australia's domestic charts at number eight. In November and December 2018, the band will be co-headlining another concert tour with Seaway , which will tour the United States and Canada .

style

Trophy Eyes play a musical mixture of pop-punk and melodic hardcore , what is known in the scene as Easycore . There are also many borrowings from punk and emo in the band's music. Although the music is described as happy and pop-heavy, the group can achieve comparisons to Touché Amoré in heavier song passages .

The music on the third long player has already been compared to The '59 Sound by The Gaslight Anthem and Boys and Girls in America by The Hold Steady . The band works on The American Dream with anthemic hook lines and cheerleading choruses.
