The Warped Tour 2015 is the 21st edition of the Warped Tour music festival , which officially started on June 19, 2015 at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona , California and ends after 40 concerts on August 8, 2015 in Auburn , Washington .
Some artists complete the tour over the entire length, while other artists only do part of the concert tour. In October the Warped Tour will be performing with a different line-up at Alexandra Palace in London , United Kingdom . The last time the Warped Tour was held at the end of 2013 was Germany , Austria and Switzerland .
For the first time, YouTubers who also actively participate in the festival were included in the festival billing. A comedy stage was also opened for the first time.
The performance of the acoustic solo music project Front Porch Step by musician Jake McElfresh on July 1, 2015 in Nashville , Tennessee caused a sensation . Originally, Front Porch Step was removed from the billing after several cases of sexual abuse against underage girls became known. It was only shortly before the start of the tour in Nashville that it became known that he would play at the festival as part of a therapeutic measure. Several artists taking part in the tour then called for the set of the project to be boycotted.
Tour progress
On October 15th, 2014 the tour dates for the complete Warped Tour were announced. However, the exact venues within the announced cities in which the concert tour will stop have not yet been announced. Almost two months later, on December 3, 2014, the first five participating artists for the festival tour were unveiled. These were: Palisades , Neck Deep , Handguns , Kosha Dillz and the acoustic project Front Porch Step . Ticket sales for the tour started nine days later, on December 12, 2014. Front Porch Step was later to be removed from the billing.
After a total of 17 waves of announcements, which ended with the announcement of the last band, Pierce the Veil , over 70 artists had been announced. An unofficial Warped Tour event was held as a "Kick-Off" on April 7, 2015 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles , California . The official pre-event of the Warped Tour took place on June 17, 2015 at the George M. Sullivan Sports Arena in Anchorage , Alaska . For the first time, with BryanStars , Austin Jones , Jordan Sweeto , Damn Fizzy and Johnnie Guilbert, five nationally known YouTubers were included in the billing. A comedy stage was also set up for the first time . In addition, parents of underage concert-goers received a free ticket for the festival tour.
Just before the festival began, Tony Perry from Pierce the Veil was seriously injured in an accident with his mountain bike, so that he was replaced by Jesse Barreira (ex- My American Heart ) for the band's appearances on the entire tour . At the penultimate stop of the Warped Tour in San Diego , Perry surprisingly played the entire concert with the band, although doctors did not predict full recovery until the beginning of the Reading and Leeds Festival . On July 1, 2015, Front Porch Step performed surprisingly on the Warped Tour in Nashville , Tennessee . Some of the artists also taking part in the concert tour called on the Internet for visitors to boycott the performance of the project and look at other artists instead. Founder and organizer Kevin Lyman said in an interview that the appearance had been agreed with the treating doctors and was part of his rehabilitation.
On July 19, 2015, after an extraordinary general meeting of the Warped Tour crew , the band Slaves was taken out of the billing and prohibited the band from participating in the festival tour. The group had only played three concerts on the tour and had not made appearances in Cincinnati and Toronto for reasons that were not known at times. The North American section ended on August 8, 2015 in Auburn , Washington .

Controversy
A few weeks after the announcement that the acoustic music project Front Porch Step would take part in the Warped Tour, rumors spread across the internet that the man behind the music project, Jake McElfresh, had sexually molested several underage girls on several social platforms. The rumors were mainly spread on the Tumblr social network . Accordingly, one of the girls accused McElfresh of asking her for nude photos. The rumors resulted in several tours in the United States , the United Kingdom and Canada being canceled. An online petition on Change.org , started by Candice Montgomery, urged the founder and organizer of the Warped Tour to remove Front Porch Step from the billing. He took the project out of billing shortly afterwards. On July 1, 2015, McElfresh performed surprisingly at the festival, which many musicians took as an opportunity to launch calls for a boycott against Front Porch Step. This performance was discussed controversially by the media as well as by festival visitors. Lyman denied having paid McElfresh for the performance, as it was part of his therapy that the doctors and Lyman agreed upon. This incident had further consequences for McElfresh: Two days after his appearance on the Warped Tour in Nashville, Jake Round, founder of the record label Pure Noise Records , announced that he no longer wanted to work with Front Porch Step and thus announced the termination of the existing record deal. However, Round showed respect for Lyman to perform Front Porch Step in Nashville.
Shortly after Front Porch Step's expulsion from the Warped Tour was announced, a similar incident occurred: The American YouTuber Austin Jones was accused of asking young girls to film Twerking . In his case, too, a petition was launched calling for Jones to be banned from the festival tour. Lyman also expressed concern about the way people interact with one another on the Internet. He said that all YouTubers who work as official staff throughout the tour will be watched in advance. Nevertheless, Lyman initially announced that he would fire all Warped Tour YouTubers, which he later revoked. Jones released a statement a little later, in which he announced that all allegations were fictitious and apologized for the irritation in this case.
Due to a technical defect Loz Taylor, the singer of could While She Sleeps , the United Kingdom due to the lack of visa not leave. The group was looking for a spontaneous replacement singer for the first appearances of the Warped Tour until the problem with the visa was resolved. The group found a temporary substitute singer in Caleb Shomo ( Beartooth ), David Stephens ( We Came as Romans ) and Daniel Wand ( Capsize ).
From June 21st to 22nd, 2015, Alex Lyman, guitarist of the US rock band Slaves , was attacked with a knife by a festival visitor. The perpetrator has since been arrested and is in prison. The attacker described him as a "gay in tight pants". According to a report from the KCRA , the man attacked other musicians and injured them slightly. The police filed charges against the perpetrator on the grounds that the attack was based on hatred . On the night of July 18-19, 2015, an extraordinary meeting of the Warped Tour organization was called. This meeting was about the further participation of the rock band Slaves in the festival tour. The group had already played two concerts in Cincinnati and not in Toronto . The musicians were accused of selling drugs to festival goers on the band's previous performances during the tour. A visitor accused the band's singer, Jonny Craig , of sexual harassment. The result of the meeting was clear. The group was banned from participating in the Warped Tour. The group has since issued a statement describing any charges as untrue. A former crew member of the band, whom Craig has known since 2012 - shortly after he was treated at an addiction clinic - testified that they were unsustainable in Craig's allegations of sexual harassment.
After the Warped Tour, Trenton Woodley, singer of the Australian group Hands Like Houses , released a statement in which he expressed his displeasure with the commitment of YouTubers for the edition of the Warped Tour. He was outraged by the fact that these would be equated with the performing musicians, although they do not perform art, but only work with media.
