Eric Schwartz

Eric Schwartz (born November 5, 1976 in Plainfield / New Jersey ) is an American composer, pianist and music teacher.

Life

Schwartz studied composition with Margaret Brouwer and Donald Erb at the Cleveland Institute of Music (until 1999) and with Marc Consoli and Justin Dello Joio at New York University (until 2002), as well as with Sydney F. Hodkinson and George Tsontakis at the Aspen Music Festival 1998 He has taught at Hunter College , Lucy Moses Music School and, since 2002, New York University, and is co-founder (2002), artistic director and composer in residence of the new music ensemble Forecast Music. His debut CD, 24 Ways of Looking at a Piano , made it onto the top list of classical CDs on All Music Guide in 2005. His second solo album OYOU was released in 2011.

Schwartz has received awards for his compositions from Meet the Composer , the ASCAP , the Society for New Music , the Puffin Foundation , the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and the Ohio Federation of College Music Clubs . His works were u. a. performed in New York ( Knitting Factory , Merkin Concert Hall ), Bucharest and Thunder Bay (Ontario).
