Maryland Heights is located in the northwest suburb of St. Louis on the south bank of the Missouri River at 38 ° 39'12 "north latitude and 90 ° 33'15" west longitude. The city extends over 84.8 km², which is spread over 81.6 km² of land and 3.2 km² of water.
The city is the center of Maryland Heights Township , but also extends into the Northwest , Midland , Airport , Creve Coeur, and Chesterfield Township .
Neighboring towns to Maryland Heights are Bridgeton (9.1 km north), Bridgeton Terrace (7.5 km northeast), Breckenridge Hills (7 km east), Overland (7.1 km east-southeast), Creve Coeur (6.6 km south ), Chesterfield (11 miles southwest), and Saint Peters (across the Missouri River 14 miles northwest). The center of the city of St. Louis is 25.2 km to the east.

The northern limit of the city is Interstate 70 , which comes over the Blanchette Memorial Bridge from the northwest over the Missouri into St. Louis County. About five kilometers south of it there is a second Missouri bridge to Maryland Heights, over which the freeway Missouri State Route 364 leads to the south of the city. Both roads meet Interstate 270 , the western St. Louis bypass.
A Union Pacific Railroad runs west along the Missouri River from St. Louis.
To the west of the Maryland Heights metropolitan area is Creve Coeur Airport . The larger Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located around 9.7 km northeast of the city.
