Spanish Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri at the mouth of the Missouri River to the Mississippi . At the 2010 census , Spanish Lake had 19,650 residents.

Spanish Lake is part of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area .

Spanish Lake is located at 38 ° 47'9 "north latitude and 90 ° 12'46" west longitude and extends over 19.5 km², which is spread over 19.1 km² of land and 0.4 km² of water. Spanish Lake is located in the northern suburbs of St. Louis on the south bank of the Missouri and is the last place before it flows into the Mississippi.

Neighboring towns are Black Jack (5.7 km west), West Alton (10.9 km north on the north bank of the Missouri), Mitchell on the opposite bank of the Mississippi in Illinois (14.9 km east), Glasgow Village (7 km south-southeast), Riverview ( 5.4 km south), Moline Acres (6.7 km south-southwest), and Castle Point (7.2 km southwest). Downtown St. Louis is 12 miles south.

On the southern edge of Spanish Lake, Interstate 270 runs in a west-east direction ; on the western edge, US Highway 67 runs north from St. Louis. The Lewis Bridge spans the Missouri northwest of Spanish Lake . In the southeast, the New Chain of Rocks Bridge crosses the Mississippi and connects the greater St. Louis area with the northeastern United States.

A railway line runs north through Spanish Lake from St. Louis.

Protected area

The Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is immediately adjacent to the site in the northeast . This is a wetland at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, which got its present shape in 1993 when both rivers were flooded. Several attempts to colonize this area have been made in the past, but have now been completely abandoned.

According to the 2010 census , Spanish Lake had 19,650 people in 8049 households. The population density was 1028.8 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 19.8 percent white, 76.9 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.3 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.2 percent of the population.

29.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 59.8 percent were between 18 and 64 and 10.3 percent were 65 years or older. 55.4 percent of the population was female.
