The North West Township is one of 28 townships in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri and part of the metropolitan region of Greater St. Louis . In 2010 the Northwest Township had 32,245 residents.

The Northwest Township is located on the south bank of the Missouri River in the northwest suburb of St. Louis . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois , is about 20 km to the east.

The Northwest Township is located at 38 ° 45 '  N , 90 ° 25'  W and extends over 84.4 km², which is spread over 79.8 km² of land and 4.6 km² of water.

The Northwest Township is located in the northwest of St. Louis County and is bordered to the north, northwest and west by the Missouri River on the St. Charles County . Within St. Louis County, the Northwest Township borders the Lewis and Clark Township in the northeast, the Florissant and Airport Township in the east and the Maryland Heights Township in the south .

The Interstate 70 , of Kansas City leads to St. Louis, crossed over the Blanchette Memorial Bridge the Missouri River and crosses the southern part of the township. About two kilometers east of the bridge intersects Interstate 270 , the St. Louis bypass. About three kilometers north of the bridge, the freeway-expanded Missouri State Route 370 crosses the Missouri over the Discovery Bridge and leads through the area of ​​the township to the confluence with Interstate 270. In the township, Missouri State Routes 141 and 180 also meet. In the east of the township, US Highway 67 crosses a tunnel under the tarmac at Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport . All other streets within the township are inner-city connecting streets.

Through the Northwest Township runs a railway line of the Norfolk Southern Railway , which runs from St. Louis to Kansas City.

Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is partially located in the Northwest Township.

According to the 2010 census , the Northwest Township had 32,245 people in 13,492 households. The population density was 404.1 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.31 people lived in the 13,492 households.
