The St. Ferdinand Township is one of 28 townships in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri and part of the metropolitan region of Greater St. Louis . In 2010 the St. Ferdinand Township had 34,032 inhabitants.

The St. Ferdinand Township is located in the northern suburbs of St. Louis at the confluence of the Missouri River in the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois .

The St. Ferdinand Township lies at 38 ° 44'27 "north latitude and 90 ° 14'26" west longitude and extends over 57.5 km², which is spread over 52.3 km² of land and 5.2 km² of water.

The northeast third of St. Ferdinand Township is occupied by the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. This is a wetland area that got its present form in 1993 when both rivers were flooded. Several attempts to colonize this area have been made in the past, but have now been completely abandoned.

The St. Ferdinand Township is located in northeast St. Louis County. It is bordered to the north by the Missouri on the St. Charles County . To the east lies Madison County in Illinois on the opposite bank of the Mississippi . Within St. Louis County, the St. Ferdinand Township borders the city of St. Louis in the south, the Norwood and Ferguson Township in the southwest, and the Spanish Lake Township in the west .

Interstate 270 runs through St. Ferdinand Township in a west-east direction and serves as the northern bypass of the urban area around St. Louis. Missouri State Route 367 crosses on the border with neighboring Spanish Lake Township . All other roads are county roads or subordinate inner-city connecting roads.

A railway line of the BNSF Railway runs through St. Ferdinand Township and runs north from St. Louis along the Mississippi.

The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located about 25 km southwest of the township.

According to the 2010 census , there were 34,032 people in 12,618 households in St. Ferdinand Township. The population density was 650.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, there were 2.65 people each in the 12,618 households.
