The Lemay Township is located in the southeast of St. Louis County and borders in the east - separated by the Mississippi - on St. Clair County in Illinois. In the northeast, the township borders the extreme south of the city of St. Louis. Within St. Louis County, Lemay Township is bordered by Oakville Township in the south, Tesson Ferry Township in the southwest and Concord Township in the northwest .

Over the Jefferson Barracks Bridge , Interstate 255 comes from Illinois to Missouri, where it forms the southern border of Lemay Township. The Interstate 55 , of Chicago through St. Louis and Memphis to New Orleans runs, forms the western edge of the township. Missouri State Route 231 runs along the Mississippi a few hundred meters away . At about the same distance, the Missouri State Route 267 runs through the center of the township as Lemay Ferry Road . All other streets within the township are inner-city connecting streets.
A Union Pacific Railroad , which is also used by Amtrak's long-distance passenger trains , runs along the right bank of the Mississippi .
The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located about 45 km north of Lemay Township.
