Gravois Township is located in southern St. Louis County and borders the city of St. Louis to the northeast. Within St. Louis County, Gravois Township is bordered by Concord Township in the southeast and south , Tesson Ferry Township in the southwest , Bonhomme Township in the west and northwest and Jefferson Township in the north .

The southwestern edge of Gravois Township is formed by Interstate 270 , the St. Louis bypass. Interstate 44 , which connects St. Louis with Oklahoma City , runs on the northwest edge of the township . US Highways 50 , 61 and 67 run parallel to Interstate 270 on a shared route . Missouri State Route 366 , which runs along the route of the old Route 66, runs through the north of Gravois Township in a west-east direction . The southeastern edge is formed by Missouri State Route 30 . All other streets within the township are inner-city connecting streets.
A railway line of the BNSF Railway runs in north-south direction through the area of Gravois Township.
The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located around 25 kilometers north of Gravois Township.
