The Meramec Township is one of 28 townships in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri and part of the metropolitan region of Greater St. Louis . In 2010 the Meramec Township had 39,731 inhabitants.

The Meramec Township is located in the south-western suburb of St. Louis and is traversed by the Meramec River . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois , is about 30 km to the east.

The Meramec Township is located at 38 ° 34'17 "north latitude and 90 ° 36'52" west longitude and extends over 172.2 km², which is distributed over 169.6 km² of land and 2.6 km² of water. This makes the Meramec Township the second largest in area in all of St. Louis County.

The Route 66 State Park and the Rockwoods Range Conservation Area , an IUCN- certified wildlife sanctuary, are in the Meramec Township area.

The Meramec Township is located in the extreme southwest of St. Louis County and borders on Jefferson to the south and Franklin County to the west . Within St. Louis County, Meramec Township is bordered by Chesterfield Township to the northwest , Wildhorse and Lafayette Township to the north, Queeny Township to the northeast and Bonhomme Township to the east .

Interstate 44 runs through the south of Meramec Township in a west-east direction on a joint route with US Highway 50 . Missouri State Route 44, coming from the south-west, joins in the southeast of Meramec Township . The old Route 66 , which runs on a common route with Missouri State Route 100 , forms the northeast boundary of the Meramec Township. Missouri State Route 109 runs through the center of the township in a north-south direction . Missouri State Route 141 runs through the extreme northeast of Meramec Township . All other roads are county roads or subordinate inner-city connecting roads.

A railway line runs westwards from St. Louis along the Meramec River and is operated by the Union Pacific Railroad , the BNSF Railway and Amtrak .

The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located about 35 km northeast of Meramec Township.

According to the 2010 census , there were 39,731 people in 13,407 households in Meramec Township. The population density was 234.3 people per square kilometer. In the 13,407 households there were statistically 2.86 people each.

The racial the population was composed of 92.0 percent white, 2.2 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 3.8 percent Asian and 0.3 percent from other ethnic groups; 1.4 percent were descended from two or more races.
