Mathilde of Guaita
Mathilde von Guaita , born as Mathilde Thérèse Amalie Mumm (born January 26, 1815 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 19, 1890 ibid) was an art-loving wealthy patron and lady of society with multiple family connections to well-known families not only in the city of Frankfurt am Main Main.
Life
She comes from a Mumm family who moved to Frankfurt but had lived here for a long time, and whose individual family members had achieved considerable wealth through banking and trade. On May 22, 1837, she married Anton Friedrich Leberecht von Guaita in Frankfurt (born January 19, 1814 in Frankfurt; † March 6, 1875 there).
He was the son of the influential wealthy multiple Frankfurt mayor Georg Friedrich von Guaita (1772-1851) and his wife Madeleine Marie-Françoise Caroline called Meline (1788-1861), born Brentano . Both the ancestors of the Guiata family and those of the Brentano family had previously immigrated to Frankfurt from Lake Como / Lombardy .

In 1893, three years after her death, her son Max von Guaita (1842–1903) had well-known architects build the splendid Villa Guaita on approximately twelve hectares as a summer residence in Kronberg . According to a list (based on 1910), his widow, Mrs. Sophie Verw., Who died in 1909, had assets of 16-17 million and an annual income of around 0.75 million Reichsmarks. Go Kommerzienrat Max v. In 1974, 84 years after her death, the city of Kronberg had an oversized memorial bowl set up in the city park in her honor. Correspondence, oil paintings, photographs and / or art objects are still reminiscent of them today.
