The Normandy Township is one of 28 townships in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri and part of the metropolitan region of Greater St. Louis . In 2010 the Normandy Township had 32,516 inhabitants.

Normandy Township is located in the inner northwest suburb of St. Louis . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois , is located around three kilometers east of Normandy Township.

The Normandy Township is located at 38 ° 42 '  N , 90 ° 18'  W and extends over 22.5 km².

The Normandy Township is located in northeastern St. Louis County and borders the city of St. Louis to the east. Within St. Louis County, Normandy Township borders the University Township in the south, the Midland Township in the southwest , the Airport Township in the northwest and Norwood Township in the north .

The Interstate 70 , the Kansas City and St. Louis with Indianapolis connecting leads in west-east direction through the Normandy Township. In the far west, Interstate 170 borders the township. Missouri State Route 180 forms the southwestern boundary of the township . Missouri State Route 115 runs through the center of the township . All other streets within the township are inner-city connecting streets.

The Red Line of the St. Louis light rail system, known as MetroLink , runs through Normandy Township .

A railway line of the Norfolk Southern Railway runs through the extreme northeast of the township .

The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located about seven kilometers northwest of Normandy Township.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , the Normandy Township had 32,516 people in 12,855 households. The population density was 1445.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.47 people lived in the 12,855 households.

The racial the population was composed of 13.0 percent white, 83.4 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 1.2 percent Asian and 0.6 percent from other ethnic groups; 1.6 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.3 percent of the population, regardless of ethnicity.
