The Airport Township is one of 28 townships in St. Louis County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri and part of the metropolitan region of Greater St. Louis . In 2010 the Airport Township had 35,821 inhabitants.

The Airport Township is located in the northwestern suburb of St. Louis, around 10 km southeast of the Missouri River . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois , is about 15 km to the east.

The Airport Township is located at 38 ° 44'00 "north latitude and 90 ° 21'16" west longitude and extends over 36.5 km².

The Airport Township is located in the north-west of St. Louis County and borders the Florissant Township in the northeast, the Ferguson and Norwood Township in the east, the Normandy Township in the southeast, the Midland Township in the south, and Maryland in the southwest Heights Township and to the west and northwest to the Northwest Township .

Interstate 70, which connects St. Louis with Kansas City , runs through the Airport Township in a west-east direction . In the east of the township, Interstate 170 crosses, which meets Interstate 270 in the northeast of the airport township . This forms the northern bypass of St. Louis and the border between the Airport Township in the south and the Florissant and Northwest Township in the north. Most of the western boundary of the township is formed by US Highway 67 . All other roads are county roads or subordinate inner-city connecting roads.

The Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport , after the Airport Township was named, approximately occupies a third of its total area.

According to the 2010 census , there were 35,821 people in 15,349 households in the Airport Township. The population density was 981.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.33 people lived in each of the 15,349 households.

The racial the population was composed of 55.3 percent white, 35.3 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 2.3 percent Asian and 3.9 percent from other ethnic groups; 2.8 percent were descended from two or more races.
