The Warped Tour 2016 was the 22nd edition of the festival tour , which led through the United States .
Festival course
On December 14, 2015, the exact dates and cities were announced in which the tour will stop. However, the festival schedule was restructured four days later: The event on August 2nd in Oklahoma City was canceled due to the intersection with the district's school calendar, a stop on the tour in Las Vegas was added and the dates for Houston , San Antonio , Albuquerque , as well as for Phoenix have been postponed to another day. There were initial misunderstandings in advance about the hosting of the tour in 2016. Organizer Kevin Lyman , who also organized the Mayhem Fest in the States, said that he would take care of musicians and crew members under the age of 21. This was received incorrectly by the festival goers, so that the impression arose that the festival may not be visited by underage visitors. Lyman announced in a later statement that this statement is not addressed to festival goers, but to bands with underage musicians. There is therefore no age limit for visitors.
On the night of March 22nd to 23rd, 2016, the participating artists for the Warped Tour 2016 were announced in six waves of announcements. Previously there were already announcements of individual groups that would take part in the Warped Tour. So were Less Than Jake before and Waka Flocka Flame confirmed after the actual announcement show for the festival tour. Also were The Ghost Inside the first band to Warped Tour 2017 announced. The group was originally supposed to take part in this tour, but the group was involved in a devastating traffic accident in which several band members were seriously injured.

Incidents
During a performance by the Australian metalcore band In Hearts Wake as part of the Warped Tour in Dallas , Texas , singer Jake Taylor had to separate a viewer from a security employee. This had taken the visitor in a headlock after he had crossed the breakwater by crowdsurfing. According to a statement by the band, the visitor couldn't breathe and was on the verge of fainting. The band also complained about the inaction of other security personnel near the incident. Such situations have occurred repeatedly in the past; Jenna McDougall of Tonight Alive had to intervene in 2015 and Parker Cannon, singer on The Story So Far , had to intervene a year earlier.
