history

2006–2008: Foundation and first publications

Emarosa was founded in Lexington , Kentucky in February 2006 by Jordan Stewart ( keyboard ), Lukas Koszewski ( drums ) and ER White ( electric guitar ) under the name Corsets Are Cages . Later two other musicians joined the group: Will Sowers ( electric bass ) and Chris Roberts ( vocals ).

After the group had to replace two musicians (including Chris Roetter for Chris Roberts), the musicians also changed the name of the band to its current name: Emarosa . The band released a self-directed demo in 2006 called Corsets Are Cages . The group signed a record deal with StandBy Records , which funded the first seven-track EP. The EP, released on May 1, 2007, is called This Is Your Way Out . The group was scheduled to play at the Cornerstone Festival near Bushnell , Illinois that same year , but the group was involved in a car accident in which none of the musicians were injured.

Jonny Craig , who was kicked out of the band at Dance Gavin Dance in November 2007 due to major personal differences with his former musician colleagues and drug problems, temporarily joined A Skylit Drive , the singer of which was sick at the time. About two weeks after his expulsion from Dance Gavin Dance, he was accepted as a singer with Emarosa after Chris Roetter left them and the band was without a singer. Roetter, however, switched to Like Moths to Flames as a singer in 2010 .

2008-2009: Relativity

Relativity was released on July 8, 2008 and received a great response from the press and fans. The album debuted at number 191 on the official US charts , but only stayed there for a week.

The group toured with bands like Sky Eats Airplane , Before Their Eyes , The Wedding , A Skylit Drive, and Breathe Carolina between 2008 and 2010 . A concert tour of Canada took place in August . At the end of the month, the group played with Chiodos in Lexington , Kentucky . In September and October the group headlined the "Rise Records Tour", which was organized by In Fear and Faith and Attack Attack! was accompanied. Emarosa was also headlining the following “The Delicious Tour” with Pierce the Veil and Breathe Carolina.

From March 6th to March 13th 2009 the band toured the UK with You Me at Six . The group was of A Day to Remember invited as the opening act to appear on her "The Sweet Brag Tour". During this tour, The Devil Wears Prada and Sky Eats also headlined the opening act with Airplane A Day to Remember . Between June 19 and August 1, 2009, the group played another US tour as headliners. This tour was the "Artery Foundation Across the Nation Tour", which was accompanied by I See Stars , Broadway , Our Last Night and In Fear and Faith .

2010–2012: Emarosa

The group announced on the video platform YouTube that they were working on new material for the new album. In January 2010, the band moved into the studio together with producer Brian McTernan to begin recording work on Relativity's successor . While working in the studio, the group kept their fans up to date via the social network Tumblr . In April and May 2010 the group played together with Alesana , Bury Tomorrow and A Skylit Drive through Germany , Spain , Italy , Switzerland , the Netherlands , Poland and the Czech Republic .

The second album, which was named after the band, was released on June 29, 2010 via Rise Records . Like its predecessor, Emarosa received mostly positive feedback. This led to the album reaching number 69 on the official US charts. Craig announced that the group will be working on a b-side of their album once he returns from his solo tour. Jonny Craig has since started a solo career and released his debut album on Rise Records.

During their tour, the group became known for inviting a guest singer for the piece Casablanca . So during this tour were Cody Anderson (ex- In Fear and Faith ), Chris Roetter (formerly with Emarosa, since 2010 with Like Moths to Flames ), Austin Carlile (ex- Dance Gavin Dance , now Of Mice & Men ), Jon Mess (Dance Gavin Dance), Kyle Tamosaitis (ex- Burden of a Day ), Chris Moore (ex- We Came as Romans , ex- I See Stars ) and Jerry Roush guest vocalists during the play.

In the summer of 2010, Craig announced a return to his former band, Dance Gavin Dance , with Jon Mess . With Dance Gavin Dance he recorded the album Downtown Battle Mountain II , which was released on March 8, 2011. During Craig's absence, the post of lead vocalist was carried out by Tilian Pearson, who was then active with Tides of Man , during their touring phase. In December 2010 the group played again in the UK . On February 27, 2011, Alternative Press magazine spread the news that Jonny Craig had been admitted to a rehab facility in Northern California after it was announced on Twitter that he had a drug problem. He is said to have asked his fans for donations in order to get some technical equipment. However, it became known that he spent the funds on drugs. The label and the concert agency returned the money to the injured party. Tilian Pearson was hired as a singer for the tour with Chiodos .

In April 2011 he was kicked out of Emarosa. Tilian Pearson, who had already represented Craig as a singer, was temporarily employed as a live musician. In an interview, the musicians said they were looking for a new singer who was not like Craig.

"We're not looking for Jonny Craig 2.0. We just want to find someone who can bring something unique to the band. "

- Jordan Stewart to Alternative Press

2012–2015: Singers search and third album: Versus

The group has not been able to find a new singer until today. Rumors that Tilian Pearson would take over the position of the front vocalist, Pearson denied himself. In an interview in June guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer announced that Pearson was concentrating on his solo career and on his band Saosin . The band planned to produce their third album, but no work came about because the group was not complete at this point. In an interview, Craig announced that he would work on new tracks with Emarosa even if he is not an active musician in the band. He also stated that he was ready to return to the band.

A friend of the band also brought Bradley Walden of Squid the Whale as the new lead vocalist. The musicians got in contact with Walden and were enthusiastic about his performance, so that an offer was made to Walden as the new lead singer. However, Walden did not initially join Emarosa. On July 6, 2013 it was announced that Walden no longer acts as a singer with Squid the Whale and Emarosa has joined as the new lead singer. The band announced this four days in advance in an official statement.

On August 15, 2013, the band announced on Tumblr and Twitter that pre-production for their third studio album had begun. On September 9, 2013, the meanwhile third studio album, called Versus , will be released worldwide. The first single was released in April before the second single for the album was officially presented in August. Immediately after the announcement of the new album, the group was invited to support Memphis May Fire and Yellowcard through the United States and Canada between October and November 2014 .

On August 11, 2015, it was announced that the band would tour the United States with Oceans Ate Alaska , Stick to Your Guns and Blessthefall . Jonny Craig wrote days later that normally his band slaves should complete this concert tour, but were replaced by Emarosa - Craig was the band's lead singer in the meantime. The band was only able to play five concerts due to health problems and were then removed from the billing.

Since 2015: Signature with Hopeless Records and 131

On December 15, 2015, founding member and bassist Will Sowers left the group because he had found a new job and is going back to school. He was replaced by Marcellus Wallace, who previously played in This or the Apocalypse and helped the group out on their last concert tours as a session musician.

On January 19, 2016, the band announced that they were working on their fourth album. This is called 131 and was announced on April 28, 2016 for publication on July 8, 2016. The musicians also announced that they have left their previous record company Rise Records and signed a new record deal with Hopeless Records .

Between February 26, 2016 and March 31, 2015, the band played a full tour of the United States and Canada in the opening act for Being as an Ocean and Silverstein .
