Austin Robert Carlile (born September 27, 1987 in Pensacola , Florida ) is an American rock musician. He is the founder of the trancecore band Attack Attack! and Of Mice & Men , where he was active as a front singer. He also founded the group Call It Even with high school friends in 2005 , which disbanded after just one year and seven songs written.

Career

2005-2006: Call It Even

Together with high school friends, Carlile founded the group Call It Even . This project was short-lived, however, as the musicians split up the next year. At this point the musicians had written seven songs. A line from the song Superman Is Real was placed in The Great Hendowski . The group released the seven songs on the EP Over and Done . This piece appeared on the 2011 released album The Flood of Of Mice & Men .

2006–2008: Attack Attack!

In 2006, Carlile joined the band Attack Attack! at, which operated under a different name at the time. Because the group wanted to play heavier music, they changed their name to Attack Attack !. He was involved in the production of the EP If Guns Are Outlawed, Can We Use Swords (2008, in-house production) and the debut album Someday Came Suddenly (2008, Rise Records ).

Just one week after the release of the debut album, on November 18, 2008, Carlile announced on MySpace that they would no longer have singers on Attack Attack! to be. In the same post, Carlile announced the name of his new band, Of Mice & Men . An Alternative Press article reported that Carlile was kicked out of the band while the group was on a concert tour.

After being kicked out of Attack Attack! Carlile announced in his statement for the separation that he was planning on a new music project called Of Mice & Men (after the book of the same name by John Steinbeck ). Together with the New Zealand musician Jaxin Hall , Carlile was looking for other band members, who they found in Phil Manansala ( lead guitar , A Static Lullaby ), Shayley Bourget ( vocals , rhythm guitar , covette) and Tino Arteaga ( drums , lower definition ).

The debut album named after the band was announced on February 23, 2010, but the release was postponed by nine months due to a delay in production. In the same year Carlile had to leave the band due to a heart operation . His doctor has forbidden him from all musical activities (the group should tour with We Came as Romans , Alesana , The Word Alive and A Skylit Drive ) in order not to endanger his healing. He was temporarily replaced by Jerry Roush from Sky Eats Airplane . Roush, originally included in the group as a live musician during Carlile's absence, was firmly integrated into the band upon his return.

In September 2010 it was speculated that Carlile would take over the post of singer at Chiodos after Craig Owens dropped out. However, these were refuted with the engagement of Brandon Bolmer as a singer with Chiodos. Carlile considered starting a new group with Alan Ashby. In January 2011 Carlile got the offer to play again with Of Mice & Men. He decided to join the group again as the singer and integrated Ashby as a guitarist in the band. Together with the band he released the second album, called The Flood .

In late December, Carlile starred as one of the guest singers on Ending is the Beginning , the memorial show for Mitch Lucker of Suicide Silence, who died on November 1, 2012 . In addition, were, among others, Randy Blythe , Danny Worsnop , Tim Lambesis and Ricky Hoover on.

At the end of 2016, Carlile left the band due to health problems.

Since December 2012, Carlile has worked as an online columnist for the British magazine Rock Sound .

Controversy

In the early evening of March 30, 2013, Carlile was arrested along with drum technician Loniel Robinson II for a fight. He is said to have broken the nose of another person involved with one blow. His victim, according to Carlile, is said to have insulted a recently deceased fan of the band in the presence of Carlile. The victim announced in his statement that Carlile's statement was lied and that the story about insulting the deceased girl was made up by fans of the band. His mug shot was released two days later. He was released on bail of $ 25,000 pending his first court hearing on April 14, 2013. Due to his imprisonment, the group had to perform two concerts on their tour with A Day to Remember and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! cancel. The trial took place on April 29, 2013. He was released on payment of pain and suffering and court costs. Due to the timing of his arrest, fans of the group initially mistakenly believed that this report was an April Fool's joke .

In June 2020, rape allegations against Carlile became known, which were already several years ago. Accordingly, the music magazine Alternative Press was working on an article that should deal with this topic and in which 15 women were interviewed. The article has not yet been published, however, as Carlile threatened the magazine with a wave of lawsuits. In the meantime, the magazine has announced that this article will appear after all. On June 17, 2020, Carlile commented on the allegations. Although he confessed to having behaved inappropriately in the past and apologized for his behavior, he denied the allegations of sexual harassment and rape.
