Chiodos was an alternative rock / post hardcore band from Flint, Michigan .
history
The band was founded in 2001 under the name Chiodos Bros. founded. The band name is based on two directors, Charles and Stephen Chiodo, who produced several horror films in the 80s. In June 2002 the demo The Best Way to Ruin Your Life was recorded. In 2004 the band had to take a break because Craig Owens had pneumonia . In 2005 Chiodos signed a contract with Equal Vision Records , which released the debut album All's Well That Ends Well and 2007 Bone Palace Ballet . The band is characterized, among other things, by the very high voice of singer Craig Owens, which gives it a high recognition value. In 2009, Craig Owens and drummer Derrick Frost left the band and were replaced by Brandon Bolmer (ex-singer of Yesterday's Rising ) and Tanner Wayne (ex-drummer of Underminded and Scary Kids Scaring Kids ). Owens released the solo EP With Love that same year , during which he was in the studio with his new band Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows . In March 2012, Brandon Bolmer and Tanner Wayne left the band for personal reasons. Thereupon Craig Owens returned to Chiodos. At the end of 2013 a Germany tour was planned to support Escape The Fate, but it was canceled at short notice, so that Chiodos played a few gigs as headliners.
In an interview with the US American magazine Billboard in November 2016, Owens announced the end of Chiodos, as neither he nor the other members were no longer motivated to continue the band as a full-time project.
style
The band's music cannot be clearly assigned to a genre. Poppy , harmonious melodies and gentle, emotional voices - as in many indie rock emo bands - meet piano or keyboard sounds and powerful guitars and sometimes growls , both of which one would rather settle in metal core. There are also many pop-punk approaches.
