Scary Kids Scaring Kids was an American post-hardcore band from Arizona .
Band history
Scary Kids Scaring Kids was founded by singer Tyson Stevens, the two guitarists Chad Crawford, DJ Wilson - who switched to bass guitar a little later - and Steve Kirby, keyboardist Pouyan Afkari and drummer Peter Costa in 2002 in the city of Gilbert in the US American state of Arizona . The band released their debut EP After Dark in 2003. At the time, all members of the group were still in high school .
After the band was signed by Immortal Records in 2004 , the label reissued the EP in 2005. In the same year, on June 28, 2005, the band released the debut album The City Sleeps in Flames , which was recorded between February and March with producer Brian McTernan . The second album, named after the band, followed on August 28, 2007. It was recorded by Don Gilmore , who previously worked with Dashboard Confessional , Linkin Park and Good Charlotte .
Because of her activities for the animal welfare organization PETA , Scary Kids Scaring Kids received a Libby Award in the category Best Newcomer in 2008 for their I Am Not a Nugget campaign against Kentucky Fried Chicken . The group left Immortal Records to sign a record deal with the major label RCA Records . During an autumn tour with Anberlin , Straylight Run and There for Tomorrow , the musicians announced that they were working on their third album. However, the fact that lead singer Tyson Stevens had to take a break during the last four appearances on the Warped Tour in 2009 - Stevens was meanwhile replaced by Vic Fuentes from Pierce the Veil , Craig Mabbitt from Escape the Fate , Brandon Bolmer from Chiodos and Cove Reber replaced by Saosin - for concern. On November 30, 2009, the breakup of the band for January 2010 after a farewell tour was announced. The American rapper Mod Sun played both the opening act and drums for the band on the farewell tour.
On October 21, 2014, singer Tyson Stevens was found dead. He was 29 years old. His girlfriend and mother told police that heroin was responsible for his death. Although he was considered clean at the time of death and no heroin was found in the house.
