Anberlin is an American alternative rock band from Winter Haven , Florida .
history
Before the band was founded in 2002 by Stephen Christian, Deon Rexroat, Joseph Milligan, Nathan Young and Joey Bruce, Stephen Christian and Deon Rexroat had known each other from high school and formed the punk band SaGoh 24/7 in 1998 . Drummer Sean Hutson and guitarist Joseph Milligan also joined. After only a year, they released their first studio album, Servants After God's Own Heart , followed by Then I Corrupt Youth in 2001 . Due to the low demand, Christian, Milligan and Rexroat began to work on side projects, so that in 2002 Anberlin was created.
Her debut album Blueprints for the Black Market was released on May 6, 2003 by Tooth & Nail Records . Shortly after the release, Joey Bruce was exchanged for Nathan Strayer. On February 1, 2005, Never Take Friendship Personal was the band's second album, which reached number 144 on the US Billboard charts . On December 26, 2006 the single Godspeed was released, shortly afterwards on February 20, 2007 the third album Cities . This album reached number 19 on the Billboard charts. After the release, Nathan Strayer left the band and was replaced by Christian McAlhaney.
Lost Songs , a compilation of previously unpublished pieces , was released on November 20, 2007 . The album New Surrender was released on September 30, 2008 on the Universal Republic Records label , to which Anberlin switched in August 2007. Blueprints for City Friendship , which summarizes the last three albums as a CD box, was released on November 17, 2009. On September 21, 2010, the album Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place was released under Universal Republic. The album Vital followed on October 15, 2012.
In a YouTube video in January 2014, the band announced that this year would be their last. After the release of the last album Lowborn in June 2014 and the subsequent tour, Anberlin will disband.
