Straylight Run is an indie rock - band from Baldwin , a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County (New York State) , in 2003 by John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, two former members of Taking Back Sunday was formed.

After they had fulfilled their contractual obligations with Victory Records with the release of the Prepare To Be Wrong - EP , they switched to Universal Republic Records . On June 3, 2008, the band announced on their MySpace page that pianist and second singer Michelle DaRosa had left the band to pursue her solo career.

In June 2008 Straylight Run went back to the studio to record the next EP called Un Mas Dos . On September 16, 2008 the EP was released in digital format.

The band announced in February 2010 that they would be taking an indefinite break. In doing so, she did not rule out the possibility of working together again at some point. John Nolan and Shaun Cooper have since joined their former band Taking Back Sunday .

The band name is taken from a chapter from William Gibson's book Neuromancer .
