Mitchell Adam Lucker (born October 20, 1984 in Riverside , California - † November 1, 2012 in Huntington Beach , California), known as Mitch Lucker , was an American singer. He was the founder and front singer of the deathcore band Suicide Silence , to which he belonged continuously.

Life

Mitch Lucker (born Mitchell Adam Lucker) grew up with his parents with two brothers and a sister. He suffered from a social phobia and obsessive-compulsive disorder . Lucker died on the night of November 1, 2012 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He leaves behind his wife Jolie Lucker and daughter Kenadee Lucker.

Career

Lucker gained his first musical experience in his brother's cover band when they needed a singer. In 2002 he founded the band Suicide Silence with Chris Garza , which soon became well known. In the founding phase, the group had two singers: Tanner Womack and Lucker. After the first appearance, however, Womack was expelled from the band for unknown reasons. Thus Lucker became the sole lead singer of the group.

With Suicide Silence he released the albums The Cleansing , No Time to Bleed and The Black Crown . The latter also entered the German charts.

Musical influences and lyrics

Lucker named the groups Deftones , Korn , Slayer and Sepultura as musical influences . At first glance, his texts contain anti-religious themes. However, his lyrics are written on a personal basis.

"I'm not trying to put people's beliefs down - it's about me and my life. This is my head cracked open and poured on the paper! I still have the same beliefs and same views, but I'm more open to everything. [...] At this point in my life, I don't see the good in making people hate you for something you say. This record is for everybody. "

- Mitch Lucker to Kerrang!

Lucker has appeared as a guest musician with The Acacia Strain , Caliban and Winds of Plague .

death

On the night of November 1, 2012, Lucker succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He died at the UCI Medical Center in Orange County , California . The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on October 31, 2012.

On the night of November 1, 2012, a wake took place at the scene of the accident, attended by around 300 to 400 fans of the group and family members. His wife testified that Lucker was drunk that evening and that she had begged him not to leave the house.

His band members organized a memorial concert entitled Ending is the Beginning at the Fox Theater in Pomona , California , where singers from various bands sang songs from Suicide Silence. This concert is to be released on DVD. All proceeds go to Lucker's family. The group started a memorial foundation asking for donations for Lucker's daughter.
