Carl Ludwig von Pfuel (born July 8, 1725 in Wilmersdorf , † December 27, 1803 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian officer , most recently major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 40 .

Carl Ludwig was the son of Hans Heinrich Friedrich von Pfuel (* 1680; † December 28, 1725 in Wilmersdorf), a Prussian major a. D. , Herr auf Wilmersdorf, and his wife Dorothea Henriette, née Nagel. She was the daughter of the court preacher in Berlin .

Military career

Pfuel was employed on March 1, 1742 as a private corporal in the Infantry Regiment "von Borcke" No. 29 of the Prussian Army . As an ensign he then took part in the 1744/45 campaign in the battles near Hohenfriedberg , Soor and Jägerndorf . After the end of the war, Pfuel became second lieutenant on March 27, 1749 . In the 1756/63 campaign , Pfuel was deployed near Prague , Kolin , Breslau and Kunersdorf . In the battle near Maxen he was captured and exchanged in 1761. In the meantime he had been promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 3, 1757 and to staff captain on September 21, 1759 . After his return, Pfuel finally became captain and company commander on September 21, 1762 . Ten years later, he was promoted to major and appointed commander of Grenadier Battalion 33/42, with which he then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . Pfuel then became in September 1780 Infantry Regiment. 38 are added and there on June 4, 1783. Lieutenant Colonel and on May 25, 1785 Colonel promoted. As such, Pfuel became regimental commander on January 9, 1790. Pfuel dimittied on December 28, 1794 with a pension of 1000 thalers . His desire for award of the character as a lieutenant general was leaning Friedrich Wilhelm III. on February 16, 1799.
