Attack Attack! was founded in 2005, post-hardcore - band of Westerville , Ohio .

history

The band was formed in 2005 by Austin Carlile , Ricky Lortz, Andrew Whiting, Nick White and Andrew Wetzel. Ricky Lortz and Nick White left the band before their first release and were replaced by Johnny Franck (clean vocals, rhythm guitar) and John Holgado (bass). In 2007, Attack Attack! their first EP If Guns Are Outlawed, Can We Use Swords? at Paper Tiger Studios in Columbus, Ohio . The EP was made available as a free internet download in early 2008 and was never officially pressed on CD. Nevertheless, she gave the band a record deal with Rise Records in June 2008. Shortly thereafter, Caleb Shomo joined the band as keyboardist and they began recording their debut album Someday Came Suddenly at the Foundation Recording Studios in Connersville, Indiana. The album was released on November 11, 2008 and, despite mostly negative reviews, reached number 193 on the Billboard 200 charts and sold more than 3,600 times in the first week.

In 2008, during a tour with Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, Austin Carlile was kicked out of the band due to personal differences with the other members. The void was filled by former For All We Know singer Nick Barham. On March 9th, 2009 the label Fearless Records released the cover album Punk Goes Pop 2 , on which Attack Attack! covered the song I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry (still with Austin Carlile as singer). In the same year they were allowed to play on the Warped Tour . On June 4, 2009 the first single Stick Stickly was released , named after a Nickelodeon character from the show Nick in the afternoon. The accompanying music video was received very negatively by the press and was the trigger for the Internet phenomenon "Crabcore". However, the band took this with humor and since then has been selling t-shirts with the imprint "Crab Fucking Core" or "Major League Crabcore" with the modified MLB logo . The songs The People's Elbow and Dr. Shavargo Pt. 3 came out as a single, with the latter also having a music video made up of live recordings released.

On October 19, 2009 Nick Barham announced to leave the band, then keyboardist Caleb Shomo Barham took over the position of singer in addition to keyboard. Towards the end of the year, the band's live videos showed the first recordings of the new song Sexual Man Chocolate , which appeared on their self-titled album Attack Attack! should appear next year. Three more songs from their second album, Renob, Nevada , AC-130 and A For Andrew , were presented for the first time in early 2010. The new album was released on June 8, 2010. It sold over 15,000 times in the first week and reached number 26 on the Billboard 200 charts. It received mixed to negative reviews in the press, but was rated better overall than its predecessor. The band's great success helped them play on the 2010 Warped Tour.

On November 10th, 2010 clean singer and rhythm guitarist Johnny Franck left the band to focus on his life and on God. In the band's official statement, they announced that Caleb Shomo will now also take on the clean vocals on the albums in addition to keyboard and unclean vocals. Sean Mackowski from My Ticket Home replaced Franck as a live replacement.

On January 11, 2011, the first single from the album Smokahontas came out. The associated video was published ten days later and has been clicked almost ten million times to date. In the same year they played again on the Warped Tour 2011 where they announced to release Attack Attack in a deluxe version with four new songs, two remixes and two acoustic versions. The first single of the deluxe version Last Breath was uploaded to the official Rise Records YouTube channel on June 7, 2011 and made available for download on June 27. The deluxe version was released on July 19, 2011.

Attack Attack! started recording their third studio album in autumn 2011. The first studio update was released on YouTube on October 24, 2011. The album's title and release date was announced on November 14th, said to be This Means War, and released on January 17th, 2012 via Rise Records. This time the producer was singer Caleb Shomo instead of Joey Sturgis, who produced the two predecessors.

On December 13, 2011, the first song from the new album, The Motivation , was made available for streaming on YouTube. The song was released as a single on iTunes on December 20 .

After the premiere of the second single, The Wretched, with an accompanying music video, This Means War was released on January 17, 2012. The album reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 charts and sold over 17,000 times within the first week. This was followed by an extensive headline tour from January 26th to February 26th together with The Ghost Inside , Sleeping with Sirens and other bands.

In December 2012, John Holgado and shortly afterwards Caleb Shomo announced that they would be leaving the band. Both cited years of clinical depression as reasons. Caleb Shomo would like to continue to devote himself to his electronic project CLASS and his band Beartooth. Phil Druyor from I Am Abomination replaced Caleb Shomos and Tyler Sapp (longtime merchandise seller of Attack Attack!) Replaced John Holgados.

On April 22, 2013, the band announced their final tour (The Back in Action Tour) and broke up after the last concert of the tour. The remaining members then formed a new band called Nativ, with William Honto from Carta Immense joining as the second guitarist. A first teaser appeared on August 23, 2013.
