The Spirit of Metal webzine is an online collection of bands from the heavy metal sector and its sub-genres . SoM is comparable to the Encyclopaedia Metallum . The difference between the two online collection portals is that Spirit of Metal also includes bands in their encyclopedia that have their roots in hardcore punk . The origin of the website is in France .
Since the website was founded in 2003, Spirit of Metal has been available in 9 language versions ( French , German , English , Russian , Spanish , Italian , Chinese , Polish and Portuguese ).
In addition to the tape archive, Spirit of Metal also functions as an intelligence service. Band news is created, interviews conducted, concert reports and album reviews published, which are corrected by professional staff and then published. Interviews, reviews and news must be published in French or English. Spirit of Metal also sells its own t-shirts. Members have the opportunity to discuss bands and other topics in the forum. Another difference to the Metal Archives is that bands that represent a political ideology that is viewed as questionable have not been able to be added to Spirit of Metal for some time.
