history

founding

The band was formed in December 2006 by Ryan Bentley ( rhythm guitar ), Tanner Oakes ( bass guitar ), Jeremy Grisham ( drums ), Chase Ryan Robbins ( vocals ) and Kellen McGregor (vocals, piano , guitar ) under the name "O Captain, My Captain ! ” Founded in Denton . In February 2007, the name changed to "Memphis May Fire", the band's current name.

The band also produced their first EP on their own in 2007 and has already enjoyed local success, whereupon Josh Grabelle - the founder of the Trustkill Records label - became aware of the group. In September of the same year, the group was finally signed. A new edition of the EP was released there in December 2007, which is also called "Memphis May Fire". In 2007 bassist Tanner Oakes left the group and was replaced by Austin Radford on bass.

The debut album: "Sleepwalking"

The band hoped to be able to release the scheduled debut album, which would later appear under the name "Sleepwalking", in 2008. While recording the album, singer Chase Ryan Robbins decided to leave the band because he became a father and wanted to spend time with his child. At the same time, Radford split from the band after he had only been integrated into the group as a musician in 2007. Radford was replaced by Corey Elder. The replacement for the dropped out Robbins found Memphis May Fire through an open casting in Matty Mullins . At this point the instrumental recordings were already finished.

"Sleepwalking" was finally released on July 21, 2009 via Trustkill Records . The song "Ghost in the Mirror" also appeared in the soundtrack for the horror film Saw VI . An official music video appeared on YouTube on February 2, 2010. This was replaced by Jake Garland, who is also active on Broadway .

In January 2011, Memphis May Fire was signed by Rise Records . It was announced that the follow-up album of "Sleepwalking" should be released in the spring.
