Attila is a metalcore band from Atlanta , Georgia , United States, founded in 2005 . The group is currently under contract with Artery Recordings and has released five studio albums since its inception. The album Outlawed , released in 2011, climbed to number 87, and the album About That Life , released in 2013, even entered the US charts at number 22 .
During their career, the group has toured North America , Australia and Europe several times . The group was supported by Chelsea Grin , Buried in Verona , Emmure , Hed PE , Arsonists Get All the Girls , See You Next Tuesday , Oceano and Heart of a Coward .
history
2005–2010: Foundation and the first albums
Attila was founded in 2005 by Chris "Fronz" Fronzak ( vocals ), Sean Heenan ( drums ), Sam Halcomb ( electric bass ), Matt Booth ( electric guitar ) and Chris Wilson (electric guitar) in Atlanta , Georgia . At that time, the musicians were still in high school and made contact with one another via detours.
The band name was chosen shortly after the formation. The name of the band was based on the Hun king Attila . The group's lyrics aren't about the typical themes of Death Metal . On October 23, 2006 singer Chris Fronzak was a guest on the MTV television show Made . The band released the first two albums Fallacy (2007) and Soundtrack to a Party (2008) through Statik Factory before the group signed a worldwide record deal with Artery Recordings .
Matt Booth and Chris Wilson left the group in 2007. They were replaced by Chris Link and Nate Salameh. A year later bassist Sam Halcomb left the band and Paul Ollinger was integrated into the group.
The group played on smaller concert tours with Arsonists Get All the Girls , See You Next Tuesday , Chelsea Grin , American Me and We Are The End . Although the musicians have been active since 2005, it wasn't until 2010 that the group toured in an excessive fashion.
2010–2011: Signature with Artery Recordings and Rage
In 2010 the group signed a worldwide recording deal with Artery Recordings and released their third studio album on May 11, 2010. It's called Rage and was recorded by Stephan Hawkes ( Interlace Audio ) in Portland , Oregon .
Prior to the release of Rage , the group toured from March 3, 2010 to April 10, 2010 with Hed PE and Threat Signal . On October 8, 2010, a music video for the song Rage was released . Paul Ollinger, who joined the group in 2008, was replaced by Chris Comrie on bass in 2010. Comrie was also a background singer in the band.
On January 8, 2011, the group had to cancel all performances of the Allstars Tour in Canada because the country's government had refused entry to singer Chris Fronzak.
2011-2013: Outlawed
In 2011 the group started work on the fourth studio album. The group released the first single from their new long player, Payback , on June 16, 2013. A music video should follow in October. The album, which bears the title Outlawed , was released on August 16, 2011. At the end of October 2012, the second single, Party with the Devil, followed . In addition, the musicians re-recorded the song Soda in the Water Cup from the album Soundtrack to a Party . Outlawed debuted at number 87 on the US charts . Chris Comrie was replaced in 2012 by Kalan Blehm, who functions as bassist and background singer in the band.
In November and December 2012 the group played on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour together with Asking Alexandria , Memphis May Fire , Suicide Silence and As I Lay Dying . On January 4, 2013 it was announced that the group would play on the Warped Tour between June 16, 2013 and July 11, 2013 .
In February 2013 it was announced that the group was working on a new album.
2013–2014: About That Life
On February 3, 2013, the musicians announced that they had finished writing the pieces for the fifth studio album and had moved into the studio to record the new material. Joey Sturgis was hired for the production . On April 20, 2013 the band announced that the album will be called About That Life and will be released on June 25. The first single, Middle Fingers Up , was also released on April 20th. In April, the group toured with Buried in Verona , Obey the Brave and Chelsea Grin as the opening act for Emmure on their annual The Mosh Lives tour of Europe . On April 20th the group played at the Impericon Festival , which was held on the AGRA site in front of at least 6000 visitors. In addition, there were playing among other Stick to Your Guns , Hundredth , Callejon , Breakdown of Sanity , The Sorrow and Heaven Shall Burn .
On May 24, 2013, the second single, About That Life , was released on Spotify and in Revolver . The track listing was announced four days later. About That Life was released worldwide on June 25, 2013. It entered the US charts at number 22, making it the group's highest chart entry to date.
On December 11, 2013 it was announced that Chris Fronzek had moved into the studio to record a solo rap album. Later that day it was confirmed that Attila would perform again on the Warped Tour. Two days later, the musicians announced that they would tour as opening act for I See Stars , Capture the Crown and Ice Nine Kills . This concert tour will take place in January and February 2014.
2014-2016: Guilty Pleasure
On October 6, 2014, the group announced the release date of their sixth studio album. The album, which bears the name Guilty Pleasure , was released on November 24, 2014 via Razor & Tie .
In November and December 2014, the band headlined the Monster Outbreak Tour , which featured Crown the Empire , Like Moths to Flames and Sworn In . The tour only took place in the United States .
On October 22, 2014, guitarist Nate Salameh announced that he would be leaving the band.
Since 2016: Chaos , independent band and eighth studio album
On November 4, 2016, the group released their seventh album with Chaos . Attila signed with SharpTone Records . On October 18, 2016, the group embarked on a four-week headlining tour of the United States. The album entered the national album charts at number 30.
On January 1, 2017, Sean Heenan announced that he would be leaving the band. Another tour followed in February and March, this time with New Years Day , Cane Hill and Bad Omens . The band spent the summer on the Warped Tour .
After the group released a new song with Three 6 at the end of 2017 , the group announced in mid-February 2018 that they had separated from their record company and that the band was working on their eighth album with Matt Good from From First to Last in Arizona, in To be able to publish independently. In March and April the band toured the United States with the horrorcore band Insane Clown Posse .
On June 26, 2020, Attila announced that they were separating from touring drummer Bryan McClure with immediate effect. Musicians cite allegations of rape and grooming that the former girlfriend made public against McClure as the reason .
